Rahel Weymar was born in Hamburg in 1993. At the age of five she began cello lessons with her mother Susanna Weymar. This was followed by young studies as a scholarship holder of the Hans Kauffmann Foundation at the Hamburg Conservatory, which she successfully completed after five years.
After graduating from high school, she studied violoncello in Berlin at the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music with Prof. Stephan Forck. She attended master classes and lessons with Julian Steckel, Jens Peter Maintz, Jakob Spahn, Joseph Schwab, Jonathan Aner, Sebastian Hamann and Anna Korondi, among others.
She discovered her love for chamber music at an early age, which led her from baroque ensembles to string quartets, cello ensembles and new music. In 2015 she founded the “ArvesTrio”, with which she gives concerts throughout Germany and on international stages with a large repertoire. With the ArvesTrio she studied for a Master’s degree in chamber music, also at the Hochschule für Musik “Hanns Eisler” with Prof. Jonathan Aner.
Since 2018, Rahel has been a scholarship holder of the Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now Berlin e.V. association with the ArvesTrio.
As an orchestral musician she started in youth orchestras, also several times as a principal. This was followed by many projects with the “Junge Norddeutsche Philharmonie” and collaborations with the Philharmoniker in Hamburg and Neubrandenburg. In 2015 she won the audition for the academy of the Rheingaumusikfestival. In the 2018/19 season, Rahel was an academist with the Bremen Philharmonic. Historical performance practice is also close to her heart; she regularly plays with the baroque ensembles “elbipolis” and “hanse barock”. Rahel has won several competitions including the 2nd national prize at “Jugend Musiziert”. As a soloist she can be heard with various orchestras, most recently with Elgar’s Cello Concerto in the Friedrich-Ebert-Halle in Hamburg-Harburg.
